Work on a flat surface rather than on a garment you are wearing, keep the fabric taut, and move in slow circles. Rushing it is how people nick knitwear. Very loose or delicate knits — mohair, loose cashmere — are best left alone.

Do the blades wear out?
Eventually, like any blade. Replacement blades are available and take seconds to swap.
Do I need to empty it?
Yes, there is a lint chamber that fills up quickly on a heavily bobbled item. Empty it as you go or it stops picking up.
