Good to know
It stops splashing and sloshing. It will not stop a dog that deliberately paws at the water — no bowl will. It is also a water bowl rather than a food bowl; the floating disc is designed for liquid.
Frequently asked questions
Does it actually work?
Yes, and the reason it works is that it is simple. The disc floats on the surface, so the water below it cannot build momentum and wave over the edge when the bowl is nudged. There is nothing to break.
Will my dog be able to drink from it?
Almost all dogs work it out within a few minutes — the disc sinks under the nose and pops back up. Very small or very timid dogs occasionally take a day to get used to it.
Is it dishwasher safe?
Yes. Take the floating disc out and put both parts on the top rack.
Can I use it in the car?
That is one of the best uses for it. It will not survive being thrown around a boot on a motorway, but on a flat surface in a footwell it dramatically reduces spillage.
What size dog is it for?
It suits small and medium dogs and most cats comfortably. A very large breed will empty it quickly, so it is better as a household bowl than as a whole-day water supply for a big dog.
