Collection: Gifts for New Parents

New parents receive a great many babygrows and very few useful objects. This page is the useful objects.

What people actually say they wish they had been given

The Nomad nappy bag unfolds into a padded travel crib, which turns any visit to a relative's house into somewhere the baby can nap.

The Nourish cordless bottle warmer heats a feed in a car or a park with no plug. This is the one that comes up most often.

The NightWatch monitor runs on a private 2.4G link — no app, no WiFi, no account, no subscription. For a lot of parents that is the selling point rather than a limitation.

The Cloudwrap swaddle set covers 0 to 9 months, so it does not become useless in six weeks.

Frequently asked questions

What do you buy new parents that they will not already have?

Anything that solves leaving the house. Almost everyone buys them things for the nursery; very few people buy them things for the car, the park or a relative's spare room. The bottle warmer and the travel crib bag both live in that gap.

Is a baby monitor without WiFi a downgrade?

Not for most families. A closed 2.4G link means no account to create, no app to keep updated, no video leaving the house and nothing to subscribe to. What you lose is checking the camera from work.

What is a good gift for the parents rather than the baby?

Sleep-adjacent things. The contour pillow and the eye massager both come up, and our gifts for her page has more in that direction.

When should I give a swaddle set?

Before the birth if you can. Swaddles are used from day one, and a set that arrives in week three has already missed the hardest fortnight.

Is any of this safe to use straight from the box?

Wash the swaddles before first use, as you would any newborn fabric. For the electricals, read the instructions once — particularly the bottle warmer's fill lines. And never leave a baby unattended with any accessory, including the inflatable seat.
