Product details
Turn your ceiling into a living galaxy. The same drifting nebula and starfield as our standard projector, housed inside an astronaut that looks like an object rather than a gadget when it is switched off.
Features
- Nebula and starfield — layered colours that give the projection real depth
- Adjustable colours and brightness — dim enough for settling a child, bright enough for a party
- Remote and timer — control it from bed, auto-off while you sleep
- Adjustable head — aim it at the ceiling or across a wall
- A piece of decor when off — which is why this is the version most people buy for a child's room
Perfect for
- Children's bedrooms — the astronaut is the reason kids pick this one
- A space-obsessed child's birthday, where the housing matters as much as the light
- A nursery, run dim and on a timer
- Anyone who wants the effect but does not want a black plastic box on a shelf
Good to know
Best on a flat, pale ceiling; dark or textured ceilings absorb a lot of the projection. Designed for a normal bedroom rather than a large open-plan space. Uses a small laser diode for the star points — place it out of reach and never look into the lens.
Frequently asked questions
What age is this suitable for?
It is a light, not a toy, so it should be placed out of a child's reach at any age rather than handed to them. With that done, it suits a nursery upwards. Route the cable away from the cot.
How is it different from the Cosmos projector?
The light effect is very similar. The difference is the housing: the Cosmos is a plain unit, this one is an astronaut. Children reliably prefer this one; adults buying for themselves usually prefer the Cosmos.
Can it run on batteries?
It is designed to run plugged in. For a child's room this is actually preferable — a permanently placed light with a managed cable rather than something that gets carried around.
Does the projection move?
Yes, and you can turn the movement off. For settling a child to sleep, static is calmer.
Will it light the room enough to read by?
No, and it is not meant to. It is atmosphere lighting — you will want a normal lamp as well.
